A Day in the Life of a Soldier - Battling Bell's Palsy!

When the Battle Isn’t Optional Some battles come whether we want them or not. Bell’s Palsy is one of those battles for me—a season of pain, disruption, and uncertainty that I didn’t ask for. And yet, like a soldier on the front lines, I’m learning that endurance isn’t optional. It’s required. Every tear, every moment of discomfort, and every restless night becomes part of a training ground for strength, resilience, and faith. Today’s reflections come straight from my journal—written in the middle of the battle of pain, fatigue, and a disrupted routine. Against Hope: Baba Bread and Light - Bell's Palsy Story!

Faithful. In moments when everything else feels uncertain, t...

My hubby made sardines and fried plantains for me, along with a cup of hot chocolate . It was a simple start to the day, but one that felt grounding and comforting. The Gift of Laughter Later, I spoke with my bestie, and just hearing her voice was such a blessing. She made me laugh—something I didn’t even realize I needed in that moment. After about 10–15 minutes, my mouth began to hurt, and I had to say goodbye. Still, those few minutes lifted my spirit more than she probably knows. We talked about how I’ve been navigating Bell’s palsy , and she was encouraged to hear that I was still in high spirits—still expectant, still believing there was good on the other side of this experience. Then she reminded me of a powerful quote from her former pastor: “In crisis, your first response will d...
